Renegade Glass Russian Juggling Ball (78 mm)
This hollow Russian ball is molded out of flexible vinyl giving it a very nice feel and a high-gloss finish. Micro-glass beads fill about 1/8 of this Russian ball. The micro-glass beads move quickly to the bottom of the ball as it moves, increasing the ball’s stability for contact juggling, body rolls, stalls, or juggling catches. The micro-glass bead filling makes stalls and body rolls easier to perform. This Russian ball also has a highly pronounced dead bounce and does not make noise when dropped. Some jugglers prefer this type of ball for toss juggling. It is an inexpensive alternative to acrylic juggling balls.
This Renegade Glass Russian ball is made with a rotomolded PVC shell, which is much thicker and heavier than the blow mold Polyethylene shell of the Radfactor Thin Shell Russian ball and the Fill Yourself Russian ball. Some jugglers prefer this type of ball over the thin-shelled ball, as it has a less pronounced Russian effect and the ball does not wobble so much when thrown with a slight spin or unevenness. However, the balls do still have a noticeable Russian effect on the catch. Because of their heavier weight they are better suited for outdoor juggling than thin-shelled Russian balls.
These Renegade Glass Russian Juggling Balls come in 5 sizes: 75 mm, 78 mm, 100 mm, 110 mm, and 115 mm:
- 75 mm (2.95 inch) and 78 mm (3.07 inch): The 75 mm ball is comparable to the size of a baseball. These relatively smaller sizes are great for all around juggling of 3 to 7 balls.
- 100 mm (3.94 inch): The large diameter of this ball gives it high visibility, making it excellent for performing. If you are looking for a contact juggling practice ball, the 100 mm size is the most commonly used size of stage ball.
- 110 mm (4.33 inch) and 115 mm (4.53 inch): The large diameter of these Russian balls gives them high visibility, making them excellent for performing. The largest size (115 mm) will be the nicest for body rolls and stalls. These sizes are a bit too heavy for toss juggling, and are better suited for contact juggling. They are also best suited as balance balls or for single-ball manipulation in a modern dance format.
In general, a juggling ball’s filling can change how the ball feels when you juggle with it. The main factor other than total ball weight is the speed at which the filling drops to the bottom of the ball as it moves. Filling that travels faster to the bottom of the ball creates with an increased dead bounce effect when you catch the ball. The slipperiness of the filling affects how much the ball wobbles when thrown, with courser/angular fillings tending to wobble more. Moreover, the lighter the shell weight in comparison to the filling weight the more Russian effect you get.
