The Levistick or Flow Stick is a adaptation of the Dancing Cane a very old (1800's ?) classic magic trick. The adaptation of the dancing cane to use as a fire prop is pretty new, maybe in the last 5 years it has become more common. The name Levistick is also a new term which has surfaced in the last 5 years or so, as far as I know. Flow Stick maybe the last year or two. I think the name of this prop should be Fire Dancing Cane, so the name represent its historical roots.
The aluminium rod is fixed to an ultra thin kevlar string which becomes invisible from the distance with an appropriate background. This toy has a great magical effect. The sting is held in your fingers and it looks like the fire stick is floating around you, like magic. As you walk or dance around the wand and it appears to levitate.
The Levi Stick uses kevlar thread that is 26 inches long, this thead is very thin so you cannot see it, but becuase of that it does not last that long. We sell kevlar thread in our wick section, it cost $8.00 for 30 meters. You can also replace the thread with jewlery necklas metal cable, this is very thin and very durable. You can find this in beading stores or jewlery supplers. It is easy to find online.
The Levi stick has a plastic tube that is inserted into the hole in the shaft. If the tube comes out, the metal will cut the string. It is easy to repalce this tube. It is made from cotton ear cleaners ( Q-tips) , just inset the ear cleaner tubing into the shaft, 1/2 inch long on each side. Add drop of super glue to each end, let dry and then cut flush.
