Flat wick in 1/8" thickness is the most versatile wick used in fire tools. The 2" width is the most popular and used for almost all tool applications including poi, staff, hoops, torches and fans; 3" and 4" is commonly used for staff; 1" is used for smaller tools such as palm torches. Wick may be coiled into cylinders, folded into flat stacks called cathedral wicking, or wrapped and overlapped around fire tools. The 1/8" thickness has a looser weave and more fleecy appearance, is better at fuel absorption, and is more economical than it's thinner, tighter weaved, 1/16" counterpart. This high quality blend of Kevlar wick has been the mainstay for our fire tools for nearly 30 years.

This wick is the perfect blend of fibers for making fire tools with the ratio of fiberglass to kevlar optimized for fuel absorbency and weight. That translates to a better tool for burn time, flame size and longevity. Pure Kevlar which is often asked for is not an option in our offerings, would be expensive and not what is used in the realm of fire performance.
